Kitulgala and Ella are considered the main hot sports for adventure activities. Kitulgala is popular for White Water Rafting and may rain forest based adventure activities such as ran forest walks, cycling and mountain biking, pre historic cave visits, Canyoning, waterfall abseiling,river expeditions and rain forest adventure camping. In Ella one could take part in adventure activities such as rope activities, zip lining (Aerial rope), canyoning and some nature trails in Ella Rock.
TREKKING AND HIKING
Horton Plains National Park, Ella, Haputale, Bandarawela and Ohiya area offers the best trekking and hiking opportunities with magnificent scenic vistas one could see in Sri Lanka. Rain Forest patches of Haputale and Ohiya, rail roads and tunnels, Waterfalls, Misty mountains and valleys and tea estates are some if the best things one could come to see when doing trekking and hiking in these areas. Adam's peak is gaining popularity day by day and it is a seasonal hiking opportunity from December to May each year. Sinharaja Rain Forest offers rain forest trekking trips to explore pristine rain forests.
Yala is the most visited National Park in Sri Lanka, it is situated in deep down south of Sri Lanka. Yala attracts more visitors than any other park because easy Leopard sightings. Wilpattu National Park is situated towards the north central province of Sri Lanka which is again popular for Leopards but compared to Yala it is somewhat challenging to see the animals due to thick jungle. Udawalawe National Park closer to Yala National Park is popular for Elephants. Minneriya national Park is located in the North Central province of Sri Lanka is popular for large herds of Elephants.
Beach stays are usually done at the end of your round trip in Sri Lanka to spend some relaxing time. We have not included beach stays during our round trips but can be coupled at the end of the round trip depending on your budget. Popular beach destinations are Bentota, Induruwa Hikkaduwa, Unawatuna, Weligama, Mirissa and Tangalle in the southern coast while Arugam Bay, Passikudah, Trincomalee and Nilaveli are popular in the east coast. Wadduwa, Kaluthara and Negombo are the most popular west coast beaches.
Cultural Trinagle in Sri Lanka consists of three cities Namely Kandy, Polonnaruwa and Anuradhapura. Dambulla and Sigiriya are also located within the cultural triangle. We suggest you stay 2 or 3 nights maximum in this area to explore the historical cultural sites of Sri Lanka. Staying in Kandy, Dambulla, Sigiriya or Habarana will be a central base to explore the cultural triangle. Avoid going to Anurdhapura and Polonnaruwa both if you are not specifically have a requirement to explore both attractions as the things to see are more or less the same. Two nights in Habarana and one night in Kandy is the best tried and tested combination.
It is mainly Kandy, Nuwara Eliya and Ella cities are Hill stations. Nuwara Eliya is the most visited place because of the tea estates and very cool climate. Ella is famous for its breathtaking views of the mountains and valleys. Kandy is important because it is the home for Tooth Relic of Lord Buddha housed in Kandy Dalada Malagawa (Palace) though Kandy is a hill station the climate is not so cool. The train trip from Kandy to Ella via Nuwara Eliya (Nanu Oya is the Nuwara Eliya train station) is not to be missed. Horton Plains National Park which is situated between Nuwara Eliya and Ella is a very scenic natural attraction not to miss.
1300 kms of golden sandy beaches around this Island is waiting for you. Bentota, Induruwa, Hikkaduwa, Galle, Unawatuna, Talpe, Habaraduwa, Weligama Mirissa, Talalla, Dickwella and Tangalle are the most popular in the south coast whilst Kuchchaveli, Nilaaveli, Trincomalee, Passikudah and Arugam Bay are the most visited in the east coast. In the west coast too Sri Lanka is blessed with many beaches such as Kalutara, Wadduwa, Negombo and Kalpitiya
